We have warmer temps and sunshine today, people, and it is be-a-u-tiful!!!! I got the daycare kids out for a half hour or so, despite the mud from melting snow and ice, and it certainly breathed new life into me! I’ve been trying to figure out why I’ve been lacking energy and motivation lately, and yesterday it occurred to me that maybe it’s a lack of sunshine. If the amount of things I’ve accomplished since being outside this morning are any indication, I’d say that’s probably it!
I had hoped to finish up my frames from the Michaels Pinterest Party today, but I need to get a couple things so that might be a tonight/tomorrow project. Instead, I decided to finally get into the kitchen for a little bit and do some decluttering. We plan to paint the kitchen cabinets as soon as it’s consistently nice enough to do so (as well as in the budget to purchase a paint sprayer and the paint), so I debated holding off on any kitchen organization until then. I didn’t want to unload the cabinets and get them organized only to turn around and do it again in a month or two again. But I figured at the very least, I could go through and remove those things that aren’t being used and get them to the garage sale pile downstairs. That way if the garage sale happens before the cabinet painting, I have that much done.
I didn’t go through the entire kitchen yet, though when I organized the pantry and a couple cabinets recently I did some decluttering as I went. But I decided to just spend a little time at the beginning of the kids’ naptime going through the worst offenders. While looking at these drawers and cupboards, I took these things into consideration:
- Have I used this item in the last year?
- Is it worth keeping for the amount of space it takes up?
- Do I really need it?
- Could another item serve the same purpose?
