I’m a day late on this post…sorry! I wound up helping a friend out by watching her kids for a while yesterday, and just wound up unable to get to blogging. I did, however, spend more time downstairs working on my organization down there. That space is taking quite a while, but I have all the scrapbooking things sorted that I began earlier this week and can move onto another area of the basement. I’ll be glad to get that whole space done so I can come upstairs where we do more of our living!
As you’re heading into week 2 of this challenge, one thing that might be your biggest obstacle is finding the TIME. We’re all busy and it often seems like there’s just not time for one more thing. I do daycare in my home, am pursuing my organizing business, do projects and posts and photos and all the rest of what goes into a blog on my own, I am a wife and mother, I teach Jazzercise three or more days a week, and I try to be involved at school on occasion. I get BUSY. To top it off, we’ve had some big stresses in our lives lately…the kind that make you struggle to sleep, eat, and focus on anything. But I’ve pushed through that while still keeping my priorities (my family) at the forefront, and I’ve managed to stay really productive!
Here are a few things that have fallen into place that just are working for me:
Turn off the TV
Schedule organizing into your day
This goes for anything that you want to accomplish, but you need to plan and schedule it into your day. Figure out where you’ll have 30 minutes, and plan to get something accomplished. I have a “hae to” mentality right now because I’m posting 30 days and need to get something done to write about, so I’ve been making myself work for at least 30 minutes. I take my iPhone with me to the basement, turn on Christian radio (whatever gets you motivated…I love all kinds of music!), and I get in my organizing zone. Strangely, instead of not getting something done because I’m organizing, I find that overall I’m more productive and I’m getting more done in general!
Get family involved
I love Ruth’s blog and book, and she has this post with 10 tips for getting more done each day. Since she’s spot on with things I do and think are great tips, I figured I’d just share her post! #whyreinventthewheel She’s also doing a 31 day challenge to have a no-spend month, so if saving money is something you’re after, I highly recommend that and her book. I was planning on participating but this month was just not the month to take on one more thing…I definitely intend to, however!
This day has gotten away from me again! We are planning a family camping weekend…tonight just Brad and me and tomorrow all three of us…but I should have several hours during the day tomorrow and Sunday to tackle more organizing and write about it here!
