Starting October 1, hundreds of other bloggers and I will be posting as part of a 31 day series writing challenge with The Nester. The topic can be anything, but the goal is to write a post every day through the month of October.
Last year my topic was “31 Days to Saving Money”. It was a great month of learning and growing for me, but I was hesitant about participating in the challenge again this year. In fact things have been so hectic that I was sure I was NOT going to participate in this or any other blogging related thing that made me feel “pressure” to blog every day, a certain day, on a certain topic. I have been feeling so in-over-my-head lately that I just need things to be…flexible.
Yet when the announcement came out last week that it was about time for the series, I was on board that day. Why?? Because a writing challenge like this allows us to explore topics that we need to work on, challenges us as writers to be fresh and on-topic for a month, and it’s a great way to focus our energy where it needs to be. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this might be just what I need to get out of the writing rut I’ve felt like I’ve been in this year, to focus on priorities, to get back to organizing (it’s been a while, y’all!), and most importantly, to bring my own stress levels down.
I decided that I wanted to focus on fall…this beautiful, wonderful season of the year. Fall is a time that we feel like making a fresh start, it’s a time that we feel like slowing down, and it’s a time for family fun. My posts will be about organizing and simplifying (that word of the year that I seem to have forgotten!) during this time that we naturally feel like nesting, and getting the chaos under control before the holidays hit. Think small, easy-to-tackle projects that leave us time for family and friends. Things that can be completed, not drug out, so that there’s that sense of accomplishment followed by moments where we can sit down, enjoy a warm cup of coffee/tea/cocoa (insert your favorite hot beverage here) and take a deep breath. Right now I feel like that’s the most important component…taking a deep breath and enjoying fall. That’s a lot of words to put into a title, but I landed on this…
Be sure to check in starting Wednesday, October 1 so we can all enjoy a blissful fall together!
