First, THANK YOU ALL for following my blog, checking things out from time-to-time, and ultimately getting me to 50,000 page views! Whoo-hoo!!! (Happy dance!) To make things even better, I had some great compliments from a friend and a new follower…totally made my day! You guys rock. 🙂
Today I thought I’d share a few apps that can help you save time and money when grocery shopping. I actually deleted mine recently because I had to make room for the new iPhone update (apparently I’ve been a little app-happy lately!). However, I did use them briefly and think for some people they might be great tools.
With this app you can build a grocery list by typing in items or scanning barcodes. You can customize the list to coordinate with the layout of your favorite grocery store (love that!), and it will automatically categorize things for you. You can enter size and quanitity that you need, and it will store your favorites for future shopping trips. Not only an app but you can also use it online (guess I better add that back!). It will sync from multiple devices so you could create the list online and reference it from your phone! You can even share lists via email, and Grocery IQ gives you access to printable coupons via Coupons.com!
According to Mint.com, this app allows you to browse grocery and drug store circulars for sales and then add them to your list. Other family members can sign up so you can share lists and automatically update them.
Find in-season produce (which is cheaper than out-of-season) in your area with this app. It will tell you what’s in season and places to find it, including farmer’s markets and farm shares. Love that! That info is also from Mint.com, and their list has some other great apps (not as much related to saving money) – check it out!
Food on the Table
In addition to Grocery IQ, I also tried this app. Also available to use online (not just as an app), this app can simplify meal planning AND grocery shopping. SCORE! When you sign up, you complete an assessment to let the program know what kinds of foods you like. Then it will send you five dinner meal recipes on your designated day, complete with the grocery list ready to go! It will even tell you what’s on sale from the list at your store.
