Putting together an inspiration board is fun, so I was excited to tackle the challenge of designing a room around a painting from Invaluable.com! Invaluable is a world premier online auction site that offers paintings, decorative art, jewelry, collectibles, furniture and more. There’s so much to choose from that it can be overwhelming, but I used their search feature to narrow down my choices (and having lots of options is a good thing!). I tend to gravitate towards art that showcases nature, and most specifically trees, so I searched “autumn” and narrowed the search by the category “paintings”. This piece, called Autumn Walk, spoke to me, and I loved the color in the painting. Since I’m totally in fall mode, I thought it would be especially fun to design a living room for the season. What I came up with I call my “Rustic Elegant Fall Living Room”…
I don’t know about you but this room makes me want to sit down, curl up under that blanket, grab that mug of hot deliciousness, and relax!
I tried to pull the colors from the painting while not overwhelming the space so that the art was the focal point. I love the rustic wood tables combined with a bit of gold for a touch of elegance. The pillows could work year-round, but the cream knit pillow adds a cozy touch for fall and winter. I have been eyeing that plaid throw at Target ever since I bought one for a decorating client (now on my Target wish list…ahem! ;)). Deer head + pumpkin + lanterns = always awesome in my opinion!
I’d love to hear your thoughts! Do you love it as much as I do?!
