In our small home we have one bathroom that is shared among myself, my husband, our daughter, and three daycare girls. It’s not a very big bathroom and storage is limited, but we’ve managed to make it work. Over the past year or so I have contemplated some minor changes that would make it even more functional and make it feel more in line with the style of the rest of our home, and thought I’d share my ideas today.
The bathroom was decorated by the previous owners, and while they made some great choices in color, tile and overall look, there are some things I’d like to be different. The trim around the room doesn’t match, so that’s on our home project list to fix. The vanity is probably a little large for the space, but it does give me room to sit a hair dryer and curling iron, so it works, and will not be something we change out. The style of the vanity and mirror don’t exactly fit with the “cottage” feel that otherwise is throughout the house, so I’d love to change out the mirror and maybe give the vanity a face-lift. And I’d love to redo the built-in cabinet to make it more functional.
We’d like to sell our home at some point in the near(er) future (won’t likely be for a year or so), and after consulting with a realtor we know that it’s not worth our time and money to put a lot into renovating or updating our home. There are some essential non-decorating things that need done, and we’ll for sure paint the kitchen cabinets. As far as the bathroom, here are some thoughts I’ve tossed around that would make it more functional for us while we’re here, and also appealing for future buyers, all with little investment.
