Over Christmas break Faith and I went to see my sister-in-law and spent a morning at Paint Yourself Silly, a fun ceramic shop where you can choose your piece and glaze colors and create to your hearts’ content! I knew ahead of time that I wanted to find a bowl to corral Brad’s wallet and phone in. As I’ve been trying to style the bookshelves and create a functional entryway space, it became apparent that something like this would be necessary. Brad continued to put his wallet and phone on the shelf, regardless of what was or wasn’t there, so if I could create a space where he could drop those things AND they would be somewhat camouflaged, we’d both be happy (theoretically, anyway).
In the meantime I also had picked this little shelf up at Gordmans. It was the perfect spot for Brad’s phone and wallet, for us to hang keys by the front door (already have a spot by the back door but during the day I often have my stuff up front), and for notes and things that I need to give to daycare parents.
After scouring the shelves at Paint Yourself Silly, I settled on what I think is intended to be a soap dish. It seemed like it would be the perfect size for the shelf (and it was…whew!). Then I went with a color palette of a coral-red, aqua blue and a light brown.
