Last Thursday I had the great pleasure of joining a group of local bloggers for a private preview of our new Container Store! When I got the invitation a couple months ago I was OVER THE MOON! A special showing of one of my favorite stores??!!! Yes, please!!! I was even more impressed with the store after the preview and I can’t wait to tell you about it!
I arrived at the store early (that’s how I roll), and was one of the first few inside. Well, after a selfie, of course. We were asked to use #ContainYourself with any pics we posted so I was prepared to take several pics to share!
When I walked into the store, I was greeted at the check-in table, was told that I could grab a lunch box and water and find a seat. I forgot we were getting lunch so that was a pleasant surprise, and the chairs each had these intriguing little boxes and a file folder on them…
In the box was a gift card…we later found out for $50! And the lunch…delicious! The same caterer that was doing the preview party that evening had made the lunches. I chose a ham sandwich on a croissant with brie, bacon and some delicious apricot sauce on it. Each sandwich was accompanied by a pasta salad, what appeared to be homemade potato chips, and a cookie. Already impressed. 😉 The brown box with the blue bow in the next pic was my lunch.
The red folder had catalogs and brochures about The Container Store and their products. I have a feeling that Elfa catalog will come in handy with future organizing clients of My Blissful Space!
Two long-term employees, one from Dallas and one from Denver, greeted us before the presentation before splitting us into two groups and taking us on a tour. As I was one of the first few in attendance, they asked me if I was coming to the party that night. I sadly said, “No,” and went on to explain that it was either be a bad mom and do what I wanted by attending, or take my daughter to our downtown trick-or-treat event that has become an annual tradition and that my daughter is likely to soon outgrow. They said, “You don’t want to miss this…it will be a party like you’ve NEVER been to.” Of course that only made me feel worse about missing it and the whole way home I tried figuring out how to make it work. But The Bestie and I took our girls and when I got home after the long day and wasn’t feeling well, I was (somewhat) relieved I chose to stay in town. At least I got to attend the blogger preview, after all!
I was interested and impressed to learn about the history and culture of this company, like how they strive to pay their employees well and take care of them so that they’re happy, and how employees receive 250 hours of training so that they can offer customers customized shopping assistance to help them meet their organizing needs.
Here we are intently listening (and eating)!
After an introduction, we split into our groups for the tour. Our first stop was this beautiful glass canister display purposefully placed in front of the bright, sunny window. I was excited to check this selection out as I would like to eventually switch from plastic to glass food storage in the pantry! So many choices!
These colorful water bottles looked like stained glass in front of those windows. How pretty would these be to serve beverages in at a party?!
I’ve been to The Container Store only once but had purchased online several times. Even still, I had my eyes opened to such a variety of things that they offer, including things for pets! These dog dishes are designed with a silicone lip so that food and water doesn’t spill out onto the floor! Genius!
I wished I’d paid more attention to this line of Like-It Bricks in the past for drawer organization. They stack, there are smaller ones that slide across the top, and they even have dividers that you can purchase to customize the Bricks!
I literally cheered and said, “Labels!,” when we came around this corner. Everyone had a good chuckle, but since during introductions we learned I was the only blogger that focused on organization, I’m sure they all understood that stuff like this makes me giddy!
Door mats aren’t always that exciting, but I’ve been contemplating changing out our plain red water absorbing mat in the entryway and I think I found a replacement! I love that these come in a variety of colors and stripe patterns and that they look like a fabric rug (but collect dirt and moisture)!
Of course you can’t walk into a Container Store and not talk about Elfa. This collection was so popular that they bought the company. You can literally use Elfa in every room and space in your home (or garage). The possibilities are endless! I was personally fond of the pantry options…
…the mud room…
…and of course the craft space!
Oh the fun I would have filling every nook and cranny of those drawers and shelves! (In an organized and attractive way, of course.)
One surprise for me and an area that I probably would not have noticed had I not been on a tour was their travel section. I immediately fell in love with this Eagle Creek Pack-It System, and thought it would make great gifts for Brad’s family since we’re all going to the Dominican Republic next year! This large “Folder” holds up to 15 shirts and pants! The card included (that she’s holding in the photo), shows how to fold items for the best fit, and when you fold in the flaps, air gets pushed out and you have a compact and organized way to pack your clothes for a trip!
There are other colors and similar brands available as well. This next item I wouldn’t have paid attention to either but several of us said, “I need one of those!”. It’s a cosmetic bag on the top, but when you unzip the bottom, it exposes jewelry storage!
I meant to go back to get a photo of the inside but forgot, so here’s the pic from their website…
Of course The Container Store has tons of office storage solutions and check out the color selection!
I love the copper, too…
The store is full of gift ideas (especially right now as the holidays approach), including this one that I was excited about. I believe she said that it would chill a bottle of wine in 15 minutes! SOLD!
To wrap your gifts, they have a huge selection of gift wrap, tissue, and boxes! Right now they also have a display called Gift Wrap Wonderland. It wasn’t out during our tour because it was going on the dance floor for the party that night, but I can’t wait to see it when I go shopping (which I didn’t get to do yet because the cash registers were going to be bars for the party)!
If you have a move coming up, be sure to check out their moving section! Boxes and tape and labels…oh my! Arrive at your new home knowing where everything is!
When The Container Store throws a party, they use their products (which we learned are food-safe!) for serving on. As we toured we saw several beautifully designed displays that the caterers were preparing for the party. (You can see why I spent the next several hours mourning the fact that I couldn’t go.)
These were some gorgeous flowers waiting to be placed into a display…
And another food display…
Of course you can’t have a Container Store without CONTAINERS…lots and lots and LOTS of containers!
That was just the tip of the iceberg! They also have tons of things for organizing clothes and closets. Hangers, anyone??
Oh, and I can’t leave out this dream closet. The price tag?? Just under $20,000! Yikies! Well, they have options for all styles and budgets!
After the tour we had a birthday to celebrate, complete with gourmet cupcakes of all different flavors!
We finished with a group photo and left with a cupcake and our other goodies!
I had a great time, learned a lot, got sooooo many ideas for organizing, and even met a blogger from my hometown! I have now connected with other local bloggers that I didn’t know before, and just feel so blessed overall to have been part of such a fun event! Thank you, Container Store! #ContainYourself
