I had really hoped to share part 2 of my capsule wardrobe with you today, but it was a wake-and-throw-hair-up-minimal-makeup kinda day, so selfies just ain’t happenin’! Ironically, however, I decided to talk about going into fall with a fresh new look and feeling and looking great…specifically with a new hairdo!
The thing I love about hair is that you can have fun with it by changing it up. A haircut or color can completely lift your mood, make you feel sassy, and in my case, actually inspire me to style it once-in-a-while. 😉 I love long hair. To me it feels more feminine and country-girl, and you can’t beat being able to rock a messy bun every day. And believe me, I do. But eventually I get to a point where I’m ready for a slight change (often because I’m rocking a messy bun every day and decide I need to be forced to dry and style), and I’ll cut it to a mid-length bob, usually with layers. I haven’t done it yet, but am getting to that point, so I decided to start perusing the www for inspiration. I also like to change up my color with the seasons, though this year I took a walk on the wild side and added in copper browns in the spring (gasp!).
My criteria for a haircut and color are this:
- Has to be long enough to do a ponytail. For workouts. For everyday. For sure. HAVE to be able to pull it back!
- Needs to look good straight or if I want to curl it wavy.
- NO bangs. Done it several times, always regret it. Bad, bad, bad.
- I have to be careful with the color because I hate when my hair looks red. And I have a patch of grays now showing through, so I have to keep that in mind, too. (Hangs head and cries a bit.) Think I might get some of that color touch-up powder…anyone tried that??
Anyway, here are some do’s that I heart for this fall…
And I think the winner is…
Love the brown, love the ombré! I might have to make this happen next week!
