Well it’s only day 4 and I didn’t manage to get this post done a day ahead as I have been thus far. It was a busy day, though, with daycare kids, school runs, learning new Jazzercise routines, and cleaning house for some friends to come over. Despite the busyness, I enjoyed a walk with my daughter and our dog, and had a wonderful evening laughing with friends. But I really want to post daily during this writing challenge (#write31days), so I’m going to quickly write this before Faith and I head off to do some shopping!
I did manage to wrap-up a few things yesterday, albeit small things, but regardless, it felt great. That’s what today’s post is all about: Completing something. It’s so easy to put off until later, to add that paper to the pile, to put something on a to-do list. But you’d be surprised how easy (and freeing) it can also be to do it right in the moment. I encourage you (and myself) to try that for a week…to file something right away, to not let the folded laundry sit, to return those calls/emails/texts immediately.
But today is also about choosing to take some time, whether you have 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour, and just COMPLETE something. Anything! Yesterday I got a couple business cards filed away that had been sitting on my desk for weeks. I took things downstairs that had been sitting in the kitchen. I rearranged furniture in the office/playroom space. I finished putting Halloween lights up on the porch. And I finally managed to (somewhat) style my baker’s rack. It’s amazing how much more I love it now that I’m actually starting to decorate it. It’s not done (neither is the porch decorating) but I completed it to the point that I could right now. I used the time I had and got some things done. And I hope to do more of that today, leaving time for my daughter and I to enjoy together as well. I’m consciously trying to find balance.
We need to be off-and-moving but I wanted to share some pics I took of the baker’s rack this morning. The lighting wasn’t great, but I wanted to complete this post today, so here you go!
Side note: Yes, that’s a tag on the grapevine pumpkin. I don’t know why I haven’t removed it yet. It is intended for another purpose so I guess if I kept the tag on I thought I’d remember this wasn’t its permanent home. Please disregard. 😉
