Despite damp, cool weather that has made painting outside a challenge, I pushed through to try and finish my Ditto DIY project into late last night. Unfortunately with time and weather set-backs, and having to wait in between coats of paint, it’s close but not quite there. So today I’ll show you a preview of the tray, and tomorrow I’ll reveal everything put together! Read here for a description of the challenge, but here is the inspiration photo that prompted this decorating project:
This is a vanity vignette, but since I don’t have a vanity, I created this look for my dresser. I was excited at the prospect of doing something pretty and decorative for my dresser…largely (sadly) because my dresser often becomes a drop-zone and I figured if it had a pretty tray on it, there wouldn’t be room to toss everything else. Besides that, our room is very neutral and was in need of additional color and textures. It’s easy to neglect a room that most people don’t see!
Time to bring this tray into 2013!
Gotta love that!
Primer, gold spray paint, a stencil and some acrylic paint later and…
After 1st coat of primer
Covered in gold (antique bronze)
I have to wait for each section to dry before I can go on, so you can see why this is taking me longer than I planned. (And since I worked on the basement for several hours Saturday…yay!…I left most of the painting for yesterday.) Things are getting done around here, that’s for sure!
Check back tomorrow for the final reveal of my dresser vignette, and don’t miss the giveaway happening this week!!! And here’s the Ditto DIY reveal at The Inspired Room. Now, off to my daughter’s track and field day!
