Well I’m back from Christmas vacation! The daycare kids are back, school kids are back in school, and we’re back to our routine. Illness kept me from getting everything half of what I wanted to get done over break completed, but I spent the last few days hustling to do what I could. Friday and Saturday I hit my stride, but lost a little motivation on Sunday as the weekend (and break) came to a close and I tried doing several things to prepare for the week.
However, I’m trying to not let that start my year out in a funk, and am focusing on moving forward from here and continuing to knock out my Christmas break “to do” list, as well as organizing around the house.
To keep my focus, I’m going to work on one room/space/area a week (give or take as some spaces may take longer or shorter amounts of time, and some weeks may just be more busy or free). Flexibility will be key here, because, let’s face it, life happens. #canigetanamen Normally I start in the kitchen because it’s one of the most used areas and tends to get into a disarray over time, but the basement was a disaster so I started there. It worked well because I had to put Christmas decorations back anyway so I just worked on tidying everything as I went. I’m still working on it but I’ve gotten a lot done in a few days. Here’s where I started (it’s time to get real with y’all)…
- Basement (currently working on, includes storage and laundry area)
- Daycare play area
- Living room
- Our bedroom
- Faith’s bedroom
- Built-ins and cabinets
