Well I got my wish! No school again today due to the ice…though I think by afternoon it will all be melted off. I’m going to watch a couple kids for a friend later this morning, so between that and just physically feeling…meh…I decided today is going to be more of a computer/desk work day.
I have been finding it really tough to motivate to organize, which is NOT like me! I’m not sick or anything, though I’ve been fending off a random tickle in my throat and occasional sniffles with some Thieves tea. #aintnobodygottimeforthat I’m not sure if it’s the weather and the lack of vitamin D that has me feeling lethargic (probably), or that I need to be eating better and exercising more (yes), or that I’ve been delving into deeper organizing projects lately than I typically do. I’m leaning towards the first two, but the thought of wiping down all of our lower cupboards and lining them with contact paper, on top of the moving things out and back in has exhausted me to just think about. But I keep making myself START. And, as I anticipated, just starting gives me enough motivation to get something done. However, where usually that would spark motivation that would last HOURS, lately it’s only giving me enough of a jolt for maybe an hour-and-a-half or two. So frustrating!
I did manage to clear out, wipe out, line and reorganize all but one lower cupboard yesterday! I took pics as well but am waiting for Brad to hang a couple of wire organizers under the sink to complete that area, and he needed shorter screws than he had in the garage. Since it was icy, neither of us were going out for hardware yesterday, but maybe we’ll get that done today. And maybe after I get a chance to do some relaxing work on the laptop I’ll have the motivation to finish the last cabinet where we keep our cookware!
Either way things are already getting behind on the organizing front, and I think I just got over-excited and am trying to push things a little too quickly for what my schedule allows. I’m still going to try to complete all the organizing this month that I set out to do, but it may not be posted in the exact order as I planned it at the beginning of this month. I am giving an organizing presentation on Thursday so I have to focus on getting that ready, too. I hate feeling like I’m already making excuses early in the year but I have to give myself the grace to be human and do what I can.
Brad’s been itching to tackle the basement (as have I and even Faith…it’s a disaster!), but I made him hold off so that I could prioritize the kitchen first. The bathroom is halfway done already (Christmas break project) and the medicine cabinet and closets shouldn’t be too time-consuming, so I think I can share those this week or next. #fingerscrossed Faith’s room and closet, however, is going to be a two-day project and it won’t be this weekend! In fact that may just have to be a February project.
Brad and I are gearing up to get healthy, and actually he’s off to a great start already. He’s been working out and eating salads. I am totally ready but have been putting my focus on organizing and blogging and training. Today I’m getting my behind to Jazzercise, and tomorrow I’m ditching the coffee and increasing water intake! (Pray for me!) Then, once we’ve used up what food is in the house, I’m going to a more paleo/clean diet and going to try to heal my gut which is causing me all sorts of other issues (skin, hormonal, brain fog, low energy…). Oh, and lose weight because we’re going to the Dominican this spring for my sister-in-law’s wedding (eek)!
Well, I guess I better go shower and get ready for this day! I hope you’re all being safe if the storm has hit your area, and I’ll be back to share another project soon!
