I’m back today after a mini-break last week. A nice welcome back, I must say, with now over 60,000 page views! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! So much to be thankful for this November for sure!
I have to say, did NOT get caught up on nearly as much as I had hoped to last week. I hate to rush time and I especially don’t like to rush through the holidays, but it’s been tough not to look forward to Christmas break when I have two weeks off from EVERYTHING so that I can hopefully get somewhere!
One of the things I’m trying to focus on is slowing down and simplifying, and I’ll be talking a lot more about that in 2014. I recently subscribed to Simple Mom and there have been two posts in particular lately that I still have in my inbox so I can SOAK.THEM.UP. They just really spoke to me as we enter into all the holiday hoopla and as I am trying to focus more on the more important things. The first is about using the “5 D’s for a Purposeful and Peaceful Holiday Season“. The second was from today and is about “Doing the Thing in Front of You“. Oh my gosh, did I need to hear that?! Lately I find myself looking around at all the many projects uncompleted, all the cleaning that needs done, all the to-do’s unchecked…and it becomes overwhelming. Sometimes I completely shut down. It makes me tired and I just don’t know how to get it all done, so I do nothing and crash on the couch. If you’ve had that experience, check out her post today…very good!
I am happy to say, though, that I have been tackling one project at a time, trying to catch up and at least do something. My daycare kids’ photo books are not nearly where I hoped they’d be by today, but I’m making progress. I cleaned half of the basement up (the neverending project…which means trouble-shooting it is going to be a big focus for 2014) and finally found at least a temporary solution for the wall where I wanted a console table (more on that later this week).
And hopefully better-late-than-never, I am finally getting to my fall/thanksgiving decor! The Halloween wreath just came down last night, and here’s what went up in its place:
