March certainly came in like a lion this year but it only partially had to do with the weather for me! As last week ended and March was about to begin, I was feeling overwhelmed with all of my to-do’s, especially after the set-back of being sick at the beginning of last week. Well, wouldn’t you know it but all three of us got sick again yesterday!
Brad and Faith were sick right off the bat in the morning, but I felt good and motivated to have a productive day. Faith was laid out on the couch, leaving me free to get whatever done I needed to with little interruption. I did some picking up around the house, started laundry, and got to work on some baby shower invitations that I need to make. I was so excited…the Pazzles was running like a well-oiled machine after I ran a software update several months ago, allowing me to cut sheet after sheet of chevron strips for the invitations (more on those another day ;)). But as I sat at the dining table nearing the end, my arms started to ache. And my head and neck. And my throat. I had a cough, but not too bad.
By last night the cough was more frequent and dry and painful. At one point I coughed so hard I got sick. This stuff came on hard and fast, and yet again I’m at standstill on projects.
I guess this is a lesson in taking life as it comes, learning to relax when your body needs it, and that things don’t always go as planned. (I sound calm and collected but inside I’m really frustrated. Just trying not to be.) Everyone in this neck-of-the-woods is ready for spring and I can’t agree more! It’s time to open windows and get these germs out of here! The good news is that after one more cold day today, temps appear like they’ll be warming up.
I did manage a quick clean-up of our dining table and coffee bar during my productive time yesterday, which you may have seen on Instagram. After reading this post from The Nester last week, I was inspired to have a clear kitchen table. No centerpiece, no decor, no fruit bowl. I wasn’t sure where our fruit bowl could go, but I loved the idea of a clear kitchen table. (Of course once it was cleared I set up an invitation making center, but the point is that I could do that because the table was clean and clear!)
Since I’m rarely drinking coffee in favor of Crio, I don’t need the basket with syrups taking up space. (Not a huge fan of those anyway.) So I removed that basket and the brown place mat that was under it and the coffee pot, and replaced it with this new Target clearance place mat that I picked up for $1.98 a couple weeks ago. (Already brighter!) That left just enough room for the fruit basket (basket from HomeGoods)! It was just the nice, easy touch of spring I was needing for this space!
