We had another whirlwind evening last night, and after supper headed out to the garden (we’ve leased…rented…is that the right term here?…a spot at a community garden this year). It was already 7:00 when we left, and I was frustrated right away that yet another evening was getting away from me without getting much done off my list. But we spent nearly an hour planting and weeding together as a family, and time together with all three of us is rare. I don’t have any photos because I left the camera in my car, but it was time well spent. Faith really enjoys getting involved and helping, whatever the “job”, and dubbed herself “The Mission Girl” last night. Hilarious. At least until bugs started bothering her. 😉 I was so proud of her, though, and am constantly pleased that of the things we’ve done right she loves to be outside. Brad was happy that I was available to pitch in with an outdoor task for a change (I’m usually too busy inside to manage to do much outside), and I was grateful for the outside time myself. Something about a little manual labor in the sun that makes you feel alive, you know?
My morning started out rather productive and by mid-morning I had gone through email, balanced the checkbook, paid bills, updated our budget, started laundry, addressed and stamped birthday thank you’s (mine…Faith’s are on tonight’s to-do list), ran a few errands, and the normal morning routine with the kids. I was on a roll.
Until, that is, the baby woke just as the bigger kids were going down for nap, and I had planned to blog, write the daycare note AND figure out why my iPhone wasn’t playing a song I need to add into my Jazzercise set for tonight’s class. I hit the level of near-meltdown but managed to patiently (ok, almost patiently) get everyone taken care of and had about 20 minutes of rest before getting back to everything in front of me. I can literally feel my shoulders tense just thinking about it, which is why the birthday post I had planned to share today is going to have to come tomorrow…or depending how tomorrow goes maybe Thursday. Clearly I need to just breathe and prioritize and let some things go. It’s definitely been a month for that, and I appreciate your patience with my lack of project posts!
I’m going to keep breathing, keeping moving, and maybe take a hot bath tonight…then we’ll try all this again tomorrow!
