After this week I finally have more evening time free and will be home without a fully-planned weekend, so I’ll be able to get to some projects that I’ve been wanting to do. But in the meantime everything’s in the planning stages. As we’ve been working on the kitchen, we’ve been discussing inexpensive options for updating the lighting. Currently we have a dated ceiling fan over the dining table and an ugly fluorescent light in the kitchen area.
We debated changing out the ceiling fan or painting it, but there’s something wrong with the switch and Brad said it’s not worth trying to keep. We can use the light and fan so I don’t get what he’s talking about, but he’s the handyman of the house so I’ll take his word for it. 😉 Besides that, I’d rather not have a fan there. It’s nice on warmer days when I just don’t want to close the windows, but I
rarely never remember to clean my fans, so imagine that dusty gook flying down while you eat. Gross. I know. That never actually happened, but it’s pretty disgusting cleaning it and having dust fall around the table. And I’d much rather have an attractive chandelier or pendant fixture anyway.
So I set to investigating some DIY options, and this one that a pinned a while back was a favorite:

I absolutely love Ashley’s blog. She’s beautiful, her family is beautiful, and I love everything she wears and makes for her home. This light fixture was no exception.

I have other ideas but these are my favorites. Stay tuned to see what we wind up with!
