|The front of our Christmas card|
Thought I’d hop on quickly today to wish you a Merry Christmas, share our Christmas card, and just give an update on my vacation so far!
I’m sitting in my pj’s and it’s 9:15 am on Christmas Eve. I had every intention of working out this morning. So much for that! Plans changed with my family for the holidays, though, so today’s our pajama day instead of tomorrow (I promised Faith so I have to deliver, right?!).
We had a great weekend with Brad’s family and I got some wonderful gifts…maybe I’ll do a gift recap in the next couple weeks.
As far as getting things done, I’m not getting very far. Friday went from daycare to holiday travel, and during the day I was busy packing and getting ready to leave. The house really needs cleaned, which I think might happen today. We’ll celebrate our Christmas tonight and with my family tomorrow, and then the bestie, Faith and I have some shopping planned for Thursday. I’ll be able to enjoy myself so much better if the house is at least clean! I did manage to get one more daycare photo book updated, which puts me at three out of five. NOT where I wanted to be by now, but we’ll call it progress.
Yesterday I had my first radio interview for My Blissful Space on our local radio station! Faith went along and she did so great. She even got airtime herself. There were things I wish I’d said that I forgot (like that the blog is at almost 75,000 page views!!!), but overall I think it went well. We met Kim (a.k.a. Bestie) afterwards for coffee/tea/treats, and then came home to make Christmas cookies. We don’t need the cookies (Read: I don’t want any more cookies around here!), but I do want Faith to get the experience of cutting and decorating cookies for the holidays, so we made just a small batch. Half are decorated with sugar and sprinkles, and the rest get frosted and decorated today!
I have a crock pot of cheesy vegetable soup cooking for tonight’s supper, which we’ll enjoy after mass and before doing our own family Christmas at home. It’s tough traveling with Remi (our lab) so we don’t usually get a lot of time with my family unless we board her (which I always fail to think about until last minute!). So we decided to switch Christmas Eve with my family for Christmas Day, so we can enjoy a longer day with them.
Every-so-often that little bit of panic creeps in that break is passing me by and I’ve gotten “nowhere”, but I just keep forcing myself to stop, relax, and think only about TODAY. When I do that, I realize that it’s only Tuesday of week one, and that in the grand scheme of things I actually have accomplished quite a bit. Most importantly, Faith and I have had some fun time together. Yesterday she told me I’m the best mom ever…what better Christmas present is there than that??
I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, wonderful time with family, and that you, too, can step back, take a deep breath, and enjoy each moment that you’re in.
