Things didn’t go super smoothly last night, but between Corinne and I, we got My Blissful Space moved from Blogger to WordPress! There are a few formatting issues, some photos didn’t transfer over, and I have lots of updating to do in the next few months (plus I need to figure my way around WordPress!), but I’m finally moved over! The overall design is the same, and as I said, some formatting issues need worked on, so bear with us/me in the next several days and weeks, but here are some changes to note:
Tagline is back to the top – My tagline has been sort of out-of-the-way under my profile picture, but after doing some blog training I decided to bring it back out front-and-center. My tagline sums up (in as few words as I could do ;)) what my blog is about…sharing the things I love with you! I brainstormed new ones that maybe more clearly defined the blog, but I’ve always loved this one, so it stays. 🙂
New navigation bar headings – If the tagline doesn’t inform you what the blog is about, one glance below that and you’ll quickly be able to tell through the new headings in the navigation bar. All of the topics that I write about will fall under one of those categories, and the drop-down menu breaks those down into more specific topics or areas.
Photo and post gallery pages – When you click on one of the drop-down categories from the navigation bar, in most cases it will take you to a gallery page of all the posts within that category. This is one area that needs some updating…the formatting got a little wonky and some photos didn’t transfer over. But hopefully this will make it easier to locate posts about specific projects that you want to find.
Sharing buttons – Sharing is caring. 🙂 If you like a post, I’d be so grateful if you shared it! Now it’s even easier to do so with these buttons that you’ll find at the top of every post page (not on the main home page, you have to click on the specific post). Thanks in advance!
Social media feeds – This isn’t new but they’re in a new location. My goal was to make the overall site as clean and organized (imagine that!) as possible, so I decided to put these at the bottom. Here you can link to my Facebook page, see what I’m pinning, and get a quick glance at my Instagram feed.
Other changes – Here is a list of some other changes:
- Categories – Above my profile photo there is a categories tab. Here you can see the more specific category breakdowns that posts are labeled under. For example, “holidays” might be a category in the drop-down (I think it’s supposed to be and I don’t see it…adding that to the list!), but in the categories menu you can see projects by Christmas, Halloween, Easter, etc.
- About Me – Under the “About Me” menu, you’ll find the “about me” section (shocker), as well as information on services I provide, testimonials, and eventually client before-and-after photos. Several of those category pages have yet to be created…also on the list. 😉
- Content and photo updates – This hasn’t happened yet, but over the next few months I will be reworking a handful of posts every week to make the content and photos better. As I do new posts, I will strive to do the same and always bring you amazing content!
Looks like I still have a lot of work cut out for me, but I hope you like the changes and will see some big improvements going forward! Thank you, Corinne from The Blog Decorator, for all your help!
I just completed my first post on WordPress…YAY!
