It’s been months since we painted our living room white, and as I look back I apparently never shared that on the blog! The paint and supplies, as well as a few other colors that I planned to use on chairs and in Faith’s closet, have been sitting in the corner of the kitchen since then. I couldn’t stand it anymore! As my energy and motivation have returned post-cabin-fever, I’ve been quite productive and trying to complete things off my list once-and-for-all. Two of the main things that remained unpainted were the built-in shelves and the hallway, so I finally got those done this past weekend!
I’d like to keep the curtains but do a new comforter or duvet…on the search. We also need to change up the wall accessories and have some DIY plans, so more pics of the bedroom to come!
I’d been planning to eventually get rid of my red furniture. It held up pretty well considering I’d had it well over 10 years and through over 7 years of daycare, but it needed a good cleaning. Aside from that, we had a perfectly good sofa downstairs as well as a chair that I purchased from Facebook that I intended to slipcover but never did. If we ever had any hope of finishing the basement and recarpeting upstairs, something had to go or we’d be taking furniture out to the garage to make it happen. I managed to sell my furniture very quickly, and though I was sad to see the pop of red go, I’m really loving this more neutral sofa up here! Everything feels more spacious and light.
The slipcover for the green and white gingham chair (barely pictured) will arrive Friday and I can’t wait!
With all my focus being on blog updates and painting, I had failed to get out spring and Easter decorations, so the daycare kids and I quickly did that this morning.
The fresh paint, more light, spacious feel in the living room, and the spring decorations have me motivated to do more! The more I get rid of things and simplify around our home, the more relaxed and happy I feel. It has taken me years but I think I’m finally getting what I need to do to create my blissful space! 😉
