|Some faves from Hobby Lobby|
Whether new or refurbished furniture or cabinets, hardware can make all the difference between “nice” and “FABULOUS!”. It can make a dated piece look more modern, take something otherwise boring and add interest, and it can put a personal touch on an already great piece of furniture. I’m working on a decorating job currently and one of our shopping goals is to find decorative knobs that will blend metal finishes and transform a sofa table into a more elegant piece that can find new life in a new space. I love shopping for pulls and knobs so I’m so excited!
My personal budget is always limited so even though a client may have resources to “go all out”, I still tend to find the best deal possible to keep costs down. I hate paying more than necessary, especially when the end result can feel just as good with a less-expensive alternative. So I thought today I’d share a few ways to get hardware at a fraction of what you’d pay if you just stepped into a home improvement store and paid full price.
Ebay – My friend, Jess, who paints and refinishes furniture as a business gave me a tip to get hardware from ebay. You can find knobs and pulls for about a fourth of what you’d pay elsewhere!
Hobby Lobby during home sale – About every-other-week you can find home items on sale at Hobby Lobby, including their knobs and pulls. And they have CUTE ones!!!
Thrift – Watch garage sales, estate sales, clearance bins at hardware stores, and salvage shops for options, too. And you may just find the hardware on a piece of furniture!
Centsational Girl shares some great overall resources for cabinet and furniture hardware today, too, if you need more ideas of where to browse. They may not come cheaper, but it will widen your search a bit. She also gives tips for shopping for hardware.
