I’m continuing to make (small) progress on my no-entryway entryway “makeover”, and made a couple quick changes over the last 24 hours when I had a few minutes here and there. My favorite baskets arrived from The Container Store yesterday, so I started styling those aggravating bookshelves.
I first ordered these baskets sometime in the past year for my other built-ins, and while they hang over about an inch, they otherwise fit really well and are nice-looking, sturdy baskets. (I’ve also seen the same style at TJ Maxx or Marshalls.) Step one was corralling some of the visual clutter – the kids’ puzzles and some games. One basket is still empty for now, though I debated ordering a few more of them anyway. The toys on this shelf are ones that the kids don’t have access to all the time, but when daycare numbers are low they can ask to play with them (otherwise we have puzzles mixed up and little pieces of multiple games strewn everywhere).
The green pedastal bowl came from my talented friend, Jess, who painted it with Annie Sloan Antibes Green. I had admired it from her garage/workshop for a while and finally had to buy it. Until now it didn’t really have a home. It’s too deep to layer on my wall shelf, and most other spots were taken or it just wasn’t right. I’d love to fill it with decorative balls, like these holiday ornaments I found at Gordman’s the other day. It may move again, but for now, it’s here.
I need to continue adding to the shelves and tweaking the arrangement a bit. I’d like to find a pretty dish of some sort for my husband to drop his keys, wallet and phone into (because no matter what I do to these shelves, he’ll always set them here anyway). Some additional accessories are needed, and as I move things around, the other built-ins might get shifted as well.
A recent Shutterfly ordered arrived yesterday as well, so after almost two years of marriage, we finally have wedding pics on the wall! I decided it was finally time, and changed out the photos in this vignette…
Since we had a winter wedding, I thought these pictures were especially appropriate with the holiday season fast-approaching. It’s nice having that day remembered through pictures in our home. Not sure what took me so long!
