Good thing we enjoyed some time outdoors the past couple of days because today this was the scene on the way home from school drop-off…
A couple hours later, huge snowflakes were falling down…
It was quite pretty, actually, despite wanting to be done with winter. And it didn’t affect the motivational streak I’ve been on this week, so that was good. In fact, I started spring cleaning, can you believe it?! We have overnight guests coming tomorrow so I started to clean house, and decided to work on the grime that has been collecting on the windowsills.
I made good progress while the kids played, and figured that even though we can’t fully clean the windows until it’s actually spring, and spring is several weeks away yet, that I could get a good head start. After all, we didn’t really get much spring (or fall) cleaning done last year, and with big projects planned for nice-weather days (like painting the kitchen cabinets), I figured I best get started now!
In addition to cleaning, I finished up the decorative balls I started here, and worked on bringing some springy touches to the rest of the living room.
I wound up only needing five balls, but am excited to make more with different fabric to change out with the seasons. But that means the project only cost me $2! (Side note: The cost includes the fact that I already had fabric, yarn, twine and hot glue. My husband was sure to call me on that detail but even if this was a $10 project, it was still a bargain!)
Using larger twine and yarn would go faster and would help prevent the spaces I have in mine (tried to not hot glue my fingers!), but while you can see the white space in this photo, it’s not noticeable just looking over at the bowl. I highly doubt anyone will be inspecting them that closely.
Some people commented on my awesome green bowl. I got it from my friend, Jess, and I believe she has more! She just told my friend, Amber, her orange one is ready, and Amber’s ready to make her own decorative balls!
As I took down Valentine’s decor last week I also got rid of anything wintery, because I am more than ready for the warmth and bright colors of spring! Today I swapped out the berry springs in this vase for some bright silk flowers I had in storage.
The living room shelf had been completely decorated for the holidays since Christmas, so I returned some of the decor that was originally there and shopped around the house for a couple other items. I’m not sure I 100% love it but it will work until I change things up for the upcoming holidays.
There’s about a half hour of naptime left and I have a 4-H meeting to plan! (Nothing like last minute.) I decided to start a 4-H club for my daughter and other girls her age since I loved it so much when I was younger, and tonight is our first meeting! I have a few details to iron out, agendas to print, and pizza to order! I’ll be back tomorrow to resume the Fitness Friday series!
