Somehow I have reached a stage in my life where sleep is taking priority over showering every morning. Don’t worry…typically I’ve showered the night before. And thank goodness you likely only “see” me through a computer. No smell-o-vision here. 😉 I’m not sure if it’s taking care of a baby again or the great workouts I’m getting at Jazzercise that are putting me in a sleep coma…or the hectic schedule we’ve been keeping. Probably all of the above.
So when we have weekends like we just did, where just about every minute is scheduled (this weekend it was fun stuff, at least), there’s not much time or energy left at the end of the day for anything else. So I have yet to try out the Murphy’s Oil Soap on our paint splatter. Much of the kitchen is still in disarray since we painted cabinets. Most of the doors aren’t on yet, we haven’t had time for touch-ups, and some stuff will have to wait until everything is really dry and cured. I have only halfway made plans for summer decorations that I want to make and put up. Farther and farther behind I feel…
Today I got a visit from my food program lady…the one who stops by a few times a year to make sure I’m feeding the kids appropriate healthy meals and not hot dogs and Cheetos and Bug Juice. (Don’t get me started on Bug Juice. Ugh.) I hadn’t met her yet because she recently took over for Lisa who I’ve had since I started daycare here. I was MORTIFIED at the state of my house. That’s always when people decide to visit, am I right?? The piles continue to sit on my coffee table. I chisel a little away but more piles on, and they never completely go away. I had a basket of laundry to fold on the love seat, and was wearing a sloppy tee and shorts and had minimal make-up. Even my messy bun was more crazy than messy. Two kids were playing in Faith’s room, Mya was napping, but one was watching a movie while I finished my coffee and checked email. (Provider of the year, right here.) She commented on my coffee table which led to a chalk paint discussion which led me to show her my desk made with homemade chalk paint. That meant getting further into the messiness of my house…like all the kitchen stuff still scattered everywhere and decorations displaced because built-ins became temporary plate and glass storage. And more piles on the desk. And an empty (thank the Lord) pill bottle on the table because I needed the reminder to refill my prescription.
And then I told her I organize and decorate and have a blog. Ha! You surely wouldn’t know it at the moment. She had to have been thinking, “riiiiiiiigggghhhhht“. Soooo…today I’m going to take what time and energy I have, and work towards getting some sense of order and calm in my home and my mind by tackling these messes! I also have an exciting guest post that I need to work on…more on that later!
