I cannot believe it’s December 20th already! My quiet, calm, simplified December has come and almost gone…and wasn’t quite as calm and simplified as I’d hoped. But we have enjoyed some family Advent activities, like making pizza as a family and eating it by the tree. My goal was to be caught up with daycare work by now so that my break would be just that…a break. It didn’t quite work out that way, so I’m trying to go with the flow. There’s a lot I
want to need to get done over the two weeks, but I also plan to be very intentional about spending a lot of quality time with my family. Looking ahead at the calendar, and the few days that I have things scheduled, it’s tough not to feel like the vacation’s over before it started. I guess that means I’ll have to be even more mindful to slow down, take a deep breath, leave the computer and the phone alone, and just enjoy the time.
With that said, I have some things to wrap up this afternoon yet before our first round of Christmas celebrations, so this is going to be a brief post. I said yesterday that I’d share the teacher gifts I made this year, and here they are!
I made this salted caramel hot cocoa recipe from Seeded at the Table and used the labels that one of her readers shared. For the mugs I started with plain white mugs and used stickers as a template. Just be sure to clean with rubbing alcohol over the outside of the mug first to remove any oils and residue.
The cocoa is a little time-consuming and I don’t have quite a large enough food processor, so I had to mix some of the ingredients in stages and mix everything by hand at the end]. But it’s delicious and not “hard” to make. Having the jar labels already designed helped a lot! The mugs took a little time with the dot-making (and sticker removal issues), but it was a fun project and I love how they turned out! I’ll definitely do that again. (Tip: Dollar Tree was sold out of white mugs already last week so I got these at Wal Mart for about $2.50 each. If you’re planning to do several you may want to order a case off of DollarTree.com!)
I’m going to try to not blog much, if at all, over the next two weeks, but I love talking to you guys so much that it’s hard to stay away! 😉 In the meantime, I will try to regularly post on Instagram so be sure to follow me there! I hope you all have a very merry Christmas, and I’m anxious to be back in the New Year with a new My Blissful Space!!! Blessings to you!
