We had a sort of busy weekend and projects are on the back burner for a bit, so I thought I’d just check in with an update on what I’ve been up to and my upcoming project plans.
My bestie’s baby, Mya, was here for a couple mornings last week, and though it went really well, she certainly kept me busy! She officially started daycare today and it was good that I was pretty prepared for a busy morning, because not much was getting done. 🙂 My friend, Crystal, came over for coffee and I was appreciative for the extra set of hands! My goal is to get ahead of the game more often than I usually do, making sure I’ve planned meals and have things ready (or already prepared), that the house is clean before the daycare day (typically I vacuum and do a fair amount of the everyday cleaning when the kids are here), and just overall have things ready in advance. Not easy, but off to a good start. I “wing it” way more often than I probably should!

One of the things that I think will help is a new daily planner page that I created from some inspiration from a Danielle at Sew Much Crafting on Instagram. I absolutely loved the concept of this page so I tweaked it to work for myself, and printed off enough for this week. After I have a chance to try it out and make any necessary changes, I’ll share it here. Basically it’s a daily planner with space for my agenda as well as a column to the left for priority to-do’s and daily routine checklist sort-of-stuff. Since I use my phone calendar most of the time and didn’t want to entirely go back to a paper planner, but also felt the need for a place to write lists and keep better track of my daily routine, this was an ideal solution! So far I’m loving it! I plan to combine my budget sheets, this planning sheet, and a couple other forms into a sort of household/routine binder.

Brad spent some time up at the family farm and cabin this weekend, so Faith and I were on our own for a girl’s weekend. I had a final “dress rehearsal” for Jazzercise auditions on Saturday, so she played at a friend’s while I attended that. The practices are my other time “stealer” right now, so it will be nice after audition (Friday) to have that out of the way. Either I’ll be teaching or not, we’ll see how it goes!
Sunday Brad got home, we all all went to church, and I sang and watched the kids celebrate their First Communion. Crazy that Faith will be doing that next year! In the afternoon we went to check our garden that we planted last weekend. We just got potatoes, onions and garlic in, but will finish it out this weekend with some peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers. We’re trying a community garden this year, and so far like the set-up! I’m looking forward to getting the daycare kids involved with watering and picking the fruits of our labor!

That evening Faith had a dance demonstration and she did such a great job. She has been wanting to quit dance and start gymnastics, but I’m going to make her continue for at least a couple more years. She loves to dance and it shows when she performs…I think she just dislikes the practice part. Just like her mama! I’m going to try to get her signed up for gymnastics this summer while dance is on summer break. She’s been obsessed with doing a head stand and is getting really close! She can do it against the wall now that I showed her, and practices a ton!
Last night Brad and I sat down and discussed paint colors for the kitchen cabinets. I pretty much had decided but
needed to make him feel included honestly wanted his opinion. I think in the end he actually agreed with my thoughts on the matter, so that was good! We plan to paint the cabinets over Memorial weekend, so he started some prep work. Yay! It’s really happening! Once the paint is done, I’m hoping he’ll help me add some open shelving as well.
I have some freezer organization that I hope to get done this week (have had the bins for a couple weeks!), and I have yet to dye the cloth napkins I got. *Sigh* Someday.
For now I have to take it one day at a time, get done what I can, and prioritize. Jazzercise and Mya are the focus this week. I’m working on getting her onto our daycare schedule, and am practicing daily before Friday auditions. I started having a sore throat so praying that’s allergies and won’t develop into anything that affects my energy or voice before then! Prayers welcome for a successful audition!
