Just popping in to share a quick organizational idea with you today! I’ve had a busy weekend cleaning and organizing downstairs (neverending project!), but I’ve been making excellent progress and I’m happy to say I can find my floor and (almost) everything is back into a “home”. Boy does that feel good! One less thing to worry about over Christmas break.
In the past I’ve put our winter hats, gloves and scarves into a basket on the top shelf of our coat closet. This has worked well and served its purpose, but it was sometimes hard to find pairs of gloves, and you couldn’t quickly see if you were missing part of a set…that kind of thing. And now I need that space for beach towels year-round (swimming lessons) and my Thirty-One thermal bags.
So, I utilized one of my favorite organizing methods (I say “mine” as in I USE this idea a lot…like here…not that it was originally MY idea ;)), and put them into an over-the-door shoe organizer!
This has worked so much better than the basket. I know what gloves are missing a mate (and fyi those gloves go into the bottom left pocket in case we find the other half), I can see everything, and Faith’s gloves and hats can go down low where she can reach them. It’s also nice because I can pair matching gloves and hats/headbands to make the process of getting out the door even easier! Going through the basket also made me realize we had extras that we never use or that Faith has outgrown, so now I can donate those to someone really in need of warmth this winter.
Speaking of warmth, check back tomorrow…I found a great product that I’m pretty smitten with…and it involves chocolate!
